The cruise line came into being in 1954 when Swan's Travel Bureau was approached by the Hellenic Society to organize a cruise to the Greek Islands. That successful voyage has been followed by many more till today. The most distinctive feature of Swan Hellenic Cruise is that it offers ' discovery travel cruises' to a variety of lesser-known locations, in company of highly knowledgeable experts who give lectures on topics ranging from archeology to wine. As Swan Hellenic Cruises are destination-intensive, the usual onboard attractions like casino gambling, bingo and poolside activities are not there.
But that is not to say that there is no evening entertainment. Jazz bands, talent shows as well as torch songs liven up the passengers at sun down.
